As an industry partner, you will have the opportunity to support student's real-world experineces thorugh the different programs we offer such as mentorship and internship. ONE-ON-ONE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

ONE-ON-ONE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Mentorship Program
  • Description: Program is designed for 12th grade students to be career matched with a mentor volunteer. We aim for 1-1 pairing with a mentor, but can be paired with up to 2 students. 
  • Commitment: 9 one-hour/ on-hour and a half, in-person meetings in the afternoon on Wednesdays throughout the school year on the Diamond Tech campus, plus one off-site field trip day. 
 
Internship Program
  • Description: Community partners are invited to host an intern at their workplace (paid or unpaid).
  • Time of Year: Throughout the school year in the afternoons September - May.
  • Details: Internships are run through a school course where they are are released from their last period to go off campus into a field placement. The goal of the internships is to expose students to a field related career pathway of interest where they can have the opportunity to explore a variety of jobs and skills.

CLASSROOM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Project Facilitator
  • Description: At Diamond Tech students learn through Project Based Learning which means we integrate real-world, problem-based projects into our curriculum.  Students often do hands-on projects that utilize community volunteers as project advisors, instructors, and/or fictitious clients. We invite volunteers into the classroom to guide students through special cross-disciplinary projects, and simulations that have real world authenticity. We partner with organizations like Collaborative Education Advisors to run pre-packaged curricular projects and challenges. We also encourage business partners to come in and do their own creative series of lessons on important topics.
 
Mock Interviewer
  • Description: As part of the curriculum at Diamoind Tech, students are provided a variety of opportunities to practice job interview experiences. 
  • Details: Each interviewer volunteer creates a fictitious entry-level job posting with their company where students then would prepare for such as building a resume, professionalism, etc. The day of the interview, the students will bring a resume and dress professional as if they are doing a real job interview. Interviewers would prepare a series of questions, provide feedback, and score the students on their interview.

Guest Speaker
  • Description: We guest speakers into the classroom to engage in conversations with students around what topics are being taught in the classroom, industry expertise, career readiness, workforce and professional skills, etc. In addition, speakers are also encouraged to come in and share their own personal stories, lessons, or ideas on new topics.

Presentation Panelist
  • Description: Throught the school year students conduct formal presentations on the variety of projects that they are assigned. For example, Business Boards, Beast Battle, and Senior Defense. We welcome community volunteers to participate on panels to provide feedback and asses student work.

Field Trip Host
  • Description: We are always seeking for local businesses, organizations, or colleges that would like to provide students with a tour of facilities or sponsor a field trip to another educational or industry-related location. We aim for student experiences in a  professional environment where they can learn, interact, job shadow, ask a panel of volunteer questions, take a tour and/or do a variety of activities or hands on workshops. Hours we are seeking are between 9am – 2pm.
